GFRP – Glass Fiber Reinforced Polymer Rebar

Fiberglass Reinforcing Bar

Fiberglass Reinforcing Bar offers corrosion resistance and is lightweight, electromagnetically neutral, and a thermal insulator. Possible applications include structures exposed to deicing salts, seawater, or other corrosive agents; weight- or thermally-sensitive projects; projects that require electromagnetic neutrality; and tunneling/boring applications. Fiberglass Reinforcing Bar is stocked in 20-foot lengths in sizes 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, and 8. Though the material cannot be fabricated in the field, “bends” may be special ordered.

Benefits of Fiberglass Reinforcing Bar:

  • Corrosion Resistance: Will never rust, and is impervious to the action of salt ions, chemical, and the alkalinity inherit in concrete.
  • Lightweight: Approximately one-quarter the weight of an equivalent size steel bar, offering significant savings in both placement and use.
  • Electromagnetic Neutrality: contains no metal, and will never interfere with the operation of sensitive electronic devices such as medical MRI units or electronic testing devices.
  • Thermal Insulator: Highly efficient in resisting heat transfer.
